The PIEXX VS-1PX voice synthesizer is a physical and functional equivalent of the original Kenwood VS1 voice synthesizer. This voice synthesizer is used in TS-940, TS-711A, TS-811A, TS-440 and other Kenwood transceivers. The VS-1PX speaks only in english with a pleasant male 'American' accent. The kit includes the VS-1PX board only, you may need to procure cables for certain installations.
It is important to properly align the two cables coming from your transceiver with the header pins on the PIEXX KVS VS-1 voice synthesizer. Please follow the instructions for the appropriate transceiver.
Install the 8 pin cable in such a way that the red/white cable harness wire is connected to the pin marked 5C1 on the KVS board. The 3 pin cable should be aligned with the red/white wire connected to the pin marked V+.
Install the 8 pin cable in such a way that the orange cable harness wire is connected to the pin marked 5C1 on the KVS board. The 3 pin cable should be aligned with the orange wire connected to the pin marked V+. TS-440 transceivers were shipped with the opposite end of the 3 conductor cable disconnected from its mating receptacle on the IF unit board. Be sure to attach this cable to the J3 socket on the IF unit.
