A few other added features: Because the firmware for the PIEXX uP upgrade board was re-written from scratch, a few operational modifications were implemented by user request. These modifications are as follows:
- When the Display Lock function is selected, the main tuning dial adjusts the RIT, if the RIT mode is on.
- Clearing the RIT, if RIT is enabled, is allowed while in the transmit mode.
- Extended transmit frequency capability, MARS ect. may be implemented optionally, at a customers request.
- An optional, direct frequency entry keypad, as well as an infared remote will be available in the future.
- Since the firmware for the PIEXX uP upgrade board is held in an onboard FLASH memory, this firmware may be upgraded with an optional programming cable connected to the users PC.
- Direct access to the 99 additional channel memories can be made with the RIT knob when in the memory mode. This feature allows fast scanning of the 99 memory channels that the user has programmed.
- An optional board is available that will allow the PIEXX uP upgrade to select between USB/LSB modes when the transceivers mode switch is in either SSB position. This option requires some wiring modification to the transceiver.
- Lower power consumption. The new uP boards total current draw is ~ 300 mA from the 28VDC supply.
- Simultaneously pressing the Mic Up and Mic Down buttons will change the transceiver mode between VFOA, VFOB and Memory mode.
- Simultaneously pressing the 29mHz and the 24.5 mHz band switches will show the firmware revision number on the frequency readout.
