I bought one of these NVRAM modules, and collected it from the postal sorting office today because UK VAT and Customs Handling Charges, totalling £17.89 needed paying before delivery. So the overall cost of obtaining the module was £76.29 [$126.44 US at today's rate.], so almost double the product price. Transit time from ordering the Module to its arrival here in Great Britain was 12 days, or 8 working days.
Construction quality is first class. Installation into an IC-71E was simple: All jumpers were ready for the rig, as requested, and when I switched it on, there wasn't even the need to go through the setup routine in the installation instructions, because all memory channels were pre-programmed. I didn't need to trim connector pins, because there is ample clearance between the module and the metal whiled plate. The Module fits firmly onto the pins, so it should never become loose. Nonetheless, I added some Duck Tape to the metal shield for extra protection.
I now have coverage from 7kHz to 31MHz. and, above all, peace of mind. My old VRAM board had been running on it's original battery since 1984.
